I've been running through some Photoshop tutorials recently. I'm still new enough to this that I almost always learn something new or get a better understanding of how to use a tool. Some interesting ones:
- Smashing Magazine featured 'Mastering Photoshop Techniques: Layer Styles', but really it should be called '300 Steps to Making a Cool Button'. Useful in that I learned a lot from it, but I wouldn't want to have to recreate the button from memory.
- Two (linked) tutorials from Veerle -- one on how to produce inset effect text and another on a textured background. I love Veerle's tutorials; while some of the steps are very structured (as in 'Set this dial to 40%'), there's also a fair amount of 'Just add colors as they feel right'. It makes the tutorials really fun (and the results occasionally unexpected).
